Beefeater London Dry Gin

Beefeater London Dry Gin is a 40% ABV London Dry gin made at the Beefeater distillery in the Kennington district of London. Owned by the Pernod Ricard group, the brand traces its origin to James Burrough, who began producing his own gin in 1863; its name comes from the popular nickname of the Yeomen of the Guard, the British monarch's ceremonial bodyguards.

Beefeater is made entirely from grain alcohol and contains nine botanical aromatics: juniper, angelica root and seed, coriander seed, liquorice root, almond, orris root, Seville orange and lemon peel. The aromatics are steeped in alcohol for 24 hours before distillation.

What does Beefeater London Dry Gin taste like?

The producer describes the profile as clean and refreshing, with a strong juniper entry and lively citrus undertones. On the nose, a clean juniper reminiscent of pine forest, light lemon and orange peel are felt. On the palate, orange notes become more pronounced, accompanied by light floral touches reminiscent of violet sweets and coriander. On the finish, orange reappears and closes with peppery coriander.

How should it be served?

A gin and tonic made with plenty of ice, good-quality tonic and a slice of lemon or orange is the most common serve. Given its pronounced juniper and citrus structure, it is also frequently used as the base for classic cocktails such as Negroni, Martini and Tom Collins.
