Tanqueray London Dry Gin

Tanqueray London Dry Gin is a classic 43.1% ABV London Dry gin produced within Diageo at the Cameronbridge distillery in Scotland. The recipe's origins trace back to the distillery Charles Tanqueray founded in London's Bloomsbury in 1830; the original London site was damaged during the Second World War, and production has continued in Scotland ever since.

Which botanicals does Tanqueray contain?

Tanqueray's recipe consists of just four botanicals: juniper, coriander, angelica root and liquorice root. This simple composition is the foundation of the gin's juniper-forward, clean character. The bottle shape recalls a cocktail shaker, while the pineapple figure on it evokes the Tanqueray family crest. The alcohol content can vary by market; the bottle sold in the European market is 43.1% ABV.

What does Tanqueray taste like?

Juniper dominates the nose, rounded out by candied angelica stem, liquorice root and a light touch of citrus peel. On the palate it opens with juniper, followed by warm spice notes reminiscent of angelica root, cinnamon and coriander seed. The finish is long, lightly warming and spice-led.

How is it served?

Its best-known use is a gin and tonic made with plenty of ice, tonic and a wedge of lime. Its pronounced juniper character also shows well in bold-flavoured cocktails such as the Negroni, and it holds its balance in a Dirty Martini with olive brine.

What does Tanqueray pair with?

A classic gin and tonic pairs nicely with grilled fish and seafood, olive-oil and lemon-dressed salads, and light meze platters.
