Pink 47 London Dry Gin

Pink 47 is a 47% ABV London Dry Gin from Old St Andrews (OSA). Despite "pink" in its name, it is not a pink or fruity gin but a crystal-clear classic London Dry; the 47 in its name matches its alcohol content. It is known for its diamond-cut bottle.

What's in it?

The recipe rests on 12 botanicals. Italian juniper forms the base, supported by two types of angelica and two types of coriander. Spanish citrus and almond, West African nutmeg and various Eastern spices complete the recipe. The producer states it applies a four-stage distillation: the first three distillations aim for a high-purity alcohol, the fourth for extracting the botanicals' aroma. The gin is produced in small batches in a traditional pot still.

What does Pink 47 taste like?

Its high alcohol content carries the botanical aromas strongly. According to Class Magazine's assessment, peppery spice, earthy angelica, candied ginger, lemon and sage notes are felt on the nose. The palate is dry and vividly spiced; a fine violet note is felt led by juniper. The finish closes with peppery spice and juniper reminiscent of pine resin.

How should it be served, and what does it pair with?

A classic gin and tonic made with plenty of ice forms a robust base for cocktails such as Martini and Negroni. Its juniper-forward, dry character pairs well with fish and seafood, olive-oil meze and green salads.
