Beefeater Blood Orange is a 37.5% ABV blood orange-flavoured gin from London's Beefeater brand. The brand belongs to the Pernod Ricard group. The recipe was inspired by the orange-flavoured gin that Beefeater's founder, James Burrough, prepared in 1876 using oranges he hand-selected from London's Covent Garden market.

What's in it?

Beefeater Blood Orange is based on the nine botanicals of classic Beefeater London Dry Gin: juniper, lemon peel, orange peel, almond, angelica root and seed, coriander seed, orris root and liquorice root. Natural blood orange flavouring and other natural flavourings are added to this recipe.

What does Beefeater Blood Orange taste like?

The fresh citrus taste of blood orange combines with Beefeater's familiar juniper and citrus notes. The result, in the producer's words, is a bold yet finely balanced, contemporary gin. Orange peel's light bitter citrus and almond's soft, marzipan-like spice are felt in the background.

How should it be served?

The producer's suggestion is to add tonic or lemonade to a glass filled with ice, garnished with a slice of blood orange and a sprig of basil. It is also used in cocktails such as Negroni and Martini.

What does Beefeater Blood Orange pair well with?

Its citrus character pairs well with grilled fish, seafood and fresh salads. Light orange- or chocolate-based desserts also make a fitting finish.

Palate: Fresh blood orange citrus, balanced by juniper and citrus notes, with a hint of bitter orange peel in the background.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
Keep opened bottles closed; drink wine within a few days of opening.
