Swiss Gold Gin

Swiss Gold Gin is a 40% ABV dry gin containing flakes of 24-carat gold, produced by Distillerie Studer in the Swiss town of Escholzmatt. In business since 1883, the family-run Studer presents the gin in a distinctive bottle shaped like the Matterhorn.

How is Swiss Gold Gin made?

According to the producer, the recipe dates back more than a century. The gin is distilled with juniper, lemongrass, angelica root, cubeb pepper, lavender flower, coriander and ginger, along with a number of undisclosed secret ingredients. After distillation, flakes of 24-carat gold are added to the spirit before bottling, so the gold flakes remain visible in the liquid. The same base botanicals are used in Studer's Highland Dry Gin, though the proportions differ in Swiss Gold.

What does Swiss Gold Gin taste like?

The producer describes the gin as having balanced juniper and citrus notes. Swiss Gold Gin has won the gold medal for "Best Swiss Gin" at DistiSuisse and the country title in the London Dry category at the World Gin Awards.

How is it served?

The producer recommends it chilled and neat, or as a gin and tonic with ice, lemon peel and tonic; it is also a suitable choice for a Martini.

What does Swiss Gold Gin pair with?

Its juniper- and citrus-forward structure pairs well with fish and seafood, fresh herb salads and light meze platters.
