Gibson's Blood Orange is a 37.5% ABV blood orange gin distilled in England under the Gibson's brand, owned by the French La Martiniquaise-Bardinet group. It is the second flavoured gin the brand launched after Gibson's Pink, and is sold in 70 cl and 1-litre bottles.

What's in it?

Gibson's core botanicals of juniper, coriander and angelica root are joined by the freshness and light bitterness of sun-ripened blood orange. The producer's published botanical list also includes Italian lemon, orange peel, orris root, nutmeg and Chinese cinnamon.

What does it taste like?

The orange-coloured gin is soft and medium-sweet. Orange and citrus notes lead, with a herbal gin character and light spice behind them. Blood orange's distinctive bitter edge balances the sweetness. With around 38 grams of sugar per litre, it drinks softer than a classic London Dry.

How should it be served, and what does it pair with?

It can be made into a long drink with tonic or ginger ale, or a spritz-style drink with lemonade and Prosecco; a slice of blood orange is a good garnish. Its fruity character pairs well with citrus salads, grilled chicken and orange- or chocolate-based desserts.

Palate: Smooth and medium-sweet; orange and citrus notes, herbal gin character and a hint of spice.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
Keep opened bottles closed; drink wine within a few days of opening.
