Pink Royal is a 40% ABV fruity dry gin made by Old St Andrews (OSA), based on the Pink 47 recipe. It is known for its diamond-cut bottle. Sources list it as originating in the United Kingdom.
How is it made?
The gin is prepared in small batches from 10 botanicals selected from different regions of the world and is distilled four times. It is then flavoured with raspberry, blackberry and cranberry to gain its distinctive fruity character and pink colour. At its base, as in Pink 47, are botanicals such as Italian juniper, West African nutmeg and Spanish almond.
What does Pink Royal taste like?
Despite being fruity, it retains juniper's lead; the light, fresh notes of summer fruits accompany this base. It has a soft drink and a long, fruity finish.
How should it be served?
The producer recommends serving it neat over ice, with tonic, or as a base in cocktails. A gin and tonic garnished with a few fresh raspberries or blackberries brings out the fruit notes.
Which dishes does it pair with?
Its fruity, dry character offers a good match with red-fruit desserts, fresh cheeses and fruity green salads.
