Absolut Vodka is a 40% ABV wheat vodka produced in Åhus, southern Sweden, by Absolut, part of Pernod Ricard. The brand's roots trace back to Lars Olsson Smith, who introduced continuous distillation in 1879; today's Absolut was launched in 1979.
How is Absolut Vodka made?
Absolut is made purely from natural ingredients: Swedish winter wheat and water drawn from local wells up to 176 metres deep in Åhus. The entire production process takes place in a single location, Åhus, and the vodka is produced using continuous distillation. Bottling also takes place in the same town. The brand has been part of Pernod Ricard's portfolio since 2008.
What does Absolut Vodka taste like?
The producer describes Absolut as rich, full-bodied and layered, yet also smooth and round. A pronounced grain character stands out on the palate, followed by light caramel and vanilla touches and a trace reminiscent of dried fruit. The finish is fresh and fruity.
How is it served?
It can be drunk chilled and neat, over ice, or used as a base for cocktails. It is a balanced starting point for classics such as the vodka and tonic, Moscow Mule, Cosmopolitan and Bloody Mary.
What does Absolut Vodka pair with?
Served cold and neat, it forms a classic match with smoked fish and seafood, meze platters featuring pickles, and salted nuts.
