Absolut Pears is a 38% ABV pear-flavoured vodka produced and bottled in the village of Åhus, Sweden, by Pernod Ricard-owned Absolut. Launched in 2007, the flavour in this vodka is naturally sourced; as with other members of Absolut's flavoured range, its base is vodka made from Swedish winter wheat.
What does Absolut Pears taste like?
The producer describes this vodka with the distinct taste of ripe pear, delicate floral notes and a peppery spice. Its aroma is intense and perfumed, giving a full impression of pear. On the palate the structure is quite dry and clean; ripe pear combines with floral touches and a pronounced pepper warmth. The finish is long; perfumed pear and white pepper linger for a while on the palate. Absolut's sensory analyst sums up the taste as a fruity, pure pear aroma.
How should it be served?
Long drinks made with soda or ginger beer over ice are the easiest serve. Absolut Pears Lemonade made with lemon soda, a Martini made with pear purée and lemon juice, and a short shot made with lemon juice are also among the producer's suggestions.
What does Absolut Pears pair well with?
Pear and cheese are a classic pairing; a board of mature cheeses brings out this vodka's fruity side. Pear- or apple-based pastries, and salads made with rocket, walnut and pear, also offer a balanced pairing.
