Who is Maison Castel?
Maison Castel is the brand of the French wine group founded in 1949 by nine Castel siblings. The brand aims to source grapes from different wine regions of France to offer quality French wines within everyone's reach; winemaking processes are closely followed through long-standing partnerships with growers in each region.
What does this Sauvignon Blanc taste like?
It has a pale yellow colour. On the nose, intense grapefruit and tropical fruit aromas are accompanied by mineral touches. On the palate it's striking, elegant and fresh; Sauvignon Blanc's refreshing acidity keeps the drink lively. The producer notes that a brief rest on lees adds structure and exotic fruit character to the wine.
How is it served?
The producer recommends serving it at 10-12°C and drinking it within two years.
Which foods does it pair with?
It can be enjoyed as an aperitif or alongside seafood, vegetable dishes and grilled fish. The producer's ideal pairing is salmon tartare; raw fish dishes and sushi are therefore also a good choice.
