Andes Chardonnay

Andes Chardonnay is a dry white wine at 12.5% ABV from Chile's Valle Central (Central Valley) region, marketed by German wine company Peter Mertes. Made entirely from Chardonnay grapes, it has a fruit-forward style designed for everyday drinking.

How does Valle Central affect the wine?

Valle Central is one of Chile's largest and most fertile winegrowing regions; the valley, stretching between the Andes and the coastal range, has a climate of sunny days and cool nights. This temperature difference helps the grape retain its ripe fruit aromas while preserving freshness. In Andes Chardonnay, fermentation is carried out at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks; this method keeps the fruit's clarity to the fore.

What does Andes Chardonnay taste like?

It shows a bright, pale golden-yellow colour in the glass. On the nose, ripe apple, juicy pear and tropical fruits such as pineapple are accompanied by fine citrus notes. On the palate it's fresh, lively and balanced; its dry structure brings the fruit aromas forward in a clean, straightforward way.

How is it served?

As is generally accepted for white wines, serving it well chilled best captures the balance of fruit and freshness. Keeping it closed in the fridge after opening preserves its freshness.

Which foods does it pair with?

Creamy chicken dishes, grilled fish and seafood, and light salads make pairings that suit Andes Chardonnay's rounded fruit character.
