Maison Castel Chardonnay is a dry white wine at 12.5% ABV, classified as Vin de France, made from Chardonnay grapes by French wine house Maison Castel. It brings together grapes from different French regions to balance fruit with freshness.
Who is Maison Castel?
Maison Castel is the brand of the French wine group founded in 1949 by nine Castel siblings. The brand aims to source grapes from different wine regions of France to offer quality French wines within everyone's reach; winemaking processes are closely followed through long-standing partnerships with growers in each region.
How is this Chardonnay made?
The wine's grapes come from different, complementary geographies. Ripe Chardonnay from Mediterranean coastal vineyards provides a bold yet fresh structure with tropical fruit notes; Chardonnay from Côtes de Gascogne contributes pronounced acidity, liveliness and citrus aromas. The grapes are gently crushed while chilled, fermented at low temperature and rested for three to four months.
What does Maison Castel Chardonnay taste like?
It has a bright yellow colour. On the nose, fruit and white floral notes stand out. On the palate, fresh citrus and white-fleshed fruit aromas are felt within a balanced structure.
How is it served?
The producer recommends serving it at 8-10°C and drinking it within up to three years.
Which foods does it pair with?
It can be enjoyed as an aperitif or alongside white meat, fish and seafood; the producer's recommended ideal pairing is baked cod with spinach.
