Maison Castel Cabernet Sauvignon is a 12.5% ABV dry red wine offered by the French Castel family under its Maison Castel brand, originating from IGP Pays d'Oc. The grapes come from the Pays d'Oc area of southern France, spanning the Aude, Hérault and Gard regions; each region's distinct soil adds a separate layer of aroma to the wine.
What does Maison Castel Cabernet Sauvignon taste like?
It has a bright purple colour in the glass. Black fruit and vanilla are pronounced on the nose. The palate offers a rounded, expressive structure; redcurrant and black forest fruits stand out, with a soft finish. The wine is prepared by blending traditionally fermented wine with thermo-vinified wine, along with measured oak treatment, aiming to balance fruit and structure.
How should it be served?
The producer recommends serving at 16–18°C. It is designed as a young, fruity wine, at its best within the first three years after bottling. A standard red wine glass is sufficient.
What food does it pair with?
It pairs well with red meats, sauced dishes and mature cheeses. The producer's classic recommended pairing is lasagne with minced meat, so baked pasta dishes and grilled meats are good choices.
