Kavaklıdere Lâl Rosé is a 13.5% ABV dry rosé wine from Kavaklıdere Şarapları's Klasikler range, made from the Çal Karası grape native to the Çal district of Denizli. Its name comes from the old Turkish word 'lâl', meaning a red precious stone, and it is one of Turkey's long-established rosés.
What does Lâl Rosé taste like?
It has a pale salmon-pink colour. According to Degustasyon.net's tasting note, raspberry and redcurrant-like aromas stand out on the nose and palate; a German retailer, meanwhile, mentions notes of strawberry, raspberry and rose. It has a firm-acid, fruity and easy-drinking structure, leaving a round and balanced impression on the palate.
What kind of grape is Çal Karası?
Çal Karası is a native red grape grown in the inland Aegean, around the Çal district of Denizli. Because of its pale colour and fruity character, it is used especially for rosé and blush wines.
How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?
Degustasyon.net recommends drinking it within a year or two, at 6–8°C. It pairs well with light starters, lightly spiced meze, meat and mince-filled pastries, and chicken dishes. It is also a refreshing companion to salads at summer tables.
