Andes Syrah Rosé is a 12% ABV dry rosé wine offered by the German wine company Peter Mertes from Chile's Valle Central (Central Valley) region. It is made from single-varietal Syrah grapes and gently vinified in stainless steel tanks to preserve its freshness.
What does Andes Syrah Rosé taste like?
Red fruits such as strawberry and raspberry are felt on the nose, alongside delicate floral notes and a light black-pepper touch typical of Syrah. The palate shows a light, fruity character; fresh acidity keeps the drink lively. It is an easy-drinking, refreshing rosé marked by red forest fruit.
Why does the Valle Central matter?
The Valle Central is a broad valley stretching between the Andes and the coastal mountain range, accounting for much of Chile's wine production. Sunny days and cool nights help the grape retain its fruit aromas and freshness as it ripens.
How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?
It is suitable to serve chilled, at around 8–10°C. It pairs well with grilled prawns, Mediterranean-style salads and light starters such as tomato bruschetta. It also offers a refreshing accompaniment to meze platters at summer tables.
