Kavaklıdere Selection Kırmızı is a 14% ABV dry red wine from the Selection series of Kavaklıdere Şarapları, made from Öküzgözü grapes from Elazığ and Boğazkere grapes from Diyarbakır. Öküzgözü and Boğazkere are the best-known red grapes of Eastern and South-eastern Anatolia and are frequently blended together.

How is it made?

The wine is aged for 9 months in French oak barrels. Öküzgözü lends fruit and vibrancy to the blend, while Boğazkere contributes concentrated tannin and structure. The producer describes this wine as a red with ageing potential.

What does Selection Kırmızı taste like?

The nose shows rich, lingering notes of sour cherry, damson and sweet spice, joined by dried red fruit aromas. The palate is full-bodied, firm and powerful; its ripe tannins carry through to a long finish.

How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?

The ideal serving temperature is 17–18°C; bottles should be stored lying flat at 12–15°C. It pairs strongly with grilled red meats, lamb tandoor, peach kebab and other barbecue dishes, as well as mature cheeses. Decanting briefly before serving softens the tannins and helps the aromas open up.

Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
