Kavaklıdere Ancyra Blush is a lively-acid, full-bodied rosé (blush) wine from the Ancyra range of Kavaklıdere Şarapları, founded in Ankara in 1929. The series takes its name from Ancyra, Ankara's name in antiquity, and features wines made from both local and international grape varieties.
What does Ancyra Blush taste like?
According to Degustasyon.net's note on the 2023 vintage, it has a lively, bright rose-pink colour. Spicy tones lead on the nose, while red-fruit nuances are felt more on the palate. It has flavours reminiscent of strawberry and raspberry. Its full, firm and lively-acid structure offers more than an ordinary blush. A British retailer also describes tasting notes of strawberry, raspberry, nectarine and candied cherry, with a balanced, lingering finish.
How should it be served?
According to the same review, it should be drunk within a year or two, served at 8–10°C. Its fruity freshness is best felt when drunk young.
What food does it pair with?
It is recommended alongside lightly spiced meze, pink meats such as kid goat and milk-fed lamb, and veal dishes. Its lively acidity also pairs well with olive-oil dishes at summer tables.
