Jameson Black Barrel is a 40% ABV, triple-distilled blended Irish whiskey produced by Irish Distillers, part of Pernod Ricard. It contains a higher proportion of single pot still whiskey than standard Jameson and belongs to the brand's Reserve range.
What makes Black Barrel different?
It takes its name from the double-charred barrels used in maturation. According to the producer, Black Barrel is a blend of small-batch grain whiskey and single pot still whiskey. Heavily charred bourbon barrels bring out butterscotch, caramel and creamy fudge notes, while sherry casks add depth.
What does Jameson Black Barrel taste like?
The nose shows gentle char aromas along with sweet barley and grain. The palate is very smooth and mellow; light spice and char meet fresh fruity notes. Caramel, vanilla sweetness, warm spice and nutty undertones complete the character. The finish is soft and balanced.
How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?
It can be enjoyed neat or on ice; the producer particularly recommends it for an Old Fashioned or a whiskey sour. Its caramel- and spice-led character pairs well with grilled red meat, mature cheeses and chocolate desserts.

- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
- Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
- Keep opened bottles closed; drink wine within a few days of opening.
