The Dubliner Irish Whiskey is a 40% ABV Irish whiskey from The Dublin Liberties Distillery in Dublin, made from a blend of malt and grain whiskeys. The blend is matured exclusively in ex-bourbon casks.
What makes The Dubliner different?
The brand was launched in 2015 as a tribute to Dublin, claiming to capture "the spirit of the city" with its history spanning over a thousand years. The blend was created by master blender John Drennan and matured in casks that had previously held Kentucky bourbon, which give the whiskey a soft sweetness leaning towards honey and vanilla. The brand also has a whiskey and honeycomb liqueur of the same name; this product, however, is a straightforward blended Irish whiskey.
What does The Dubliner taste like?
Its aroma is distinctly honeyed, with light traces of orchard fruit behind it. The palate combines golden malt notes with honey and a touch of white pepper. The finish is quite sweet.
How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?
It can be enjoyed neat, on ice, or in a tall glass with cloudy apple juice or ginger ale. Its honeyed, fruity character pairs comfortably with chicken dishes, fruit desserts and light meze.
