Connemara Peated Single Malt is a 40% ABV peated single malt Irish whiskey produced by the Cooley Distillery, part of Suntory Global Spirits. It is known as one of the few Irish whiskies made from peat-dried barley, and is the brand's flagship product, also known as "Original".
What makes Connemara different?
Irish whiskies are mostly known for being unpeated and smooth. Connemara instead combines peat smoke with a light, sweet character typical of Ireland. The smoke is noticeable but not dominated by soot and char; it has a clean, floral quality, making it accessible even to those new to peated whisky.
What does Connemara taste like?
The nose offers sweet barley, waves of peat smoke, smoked herring and baked apple crumble. The palate shows light honeyed sweetness, clean smoke, herbal peat notes, barley water, light spice and vanilla-touched oak. The finish leaves smoke, spiced oak and sweet almond lingering for a long time.
How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?
The producer recommends drinking it neat or with a few drops of water to let the aromas open up. Its smoky, sweet character pairs well with smoked fish and seafood, grilled meats and mature cheeses.

- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
- Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
- Keep opened bottles closed; drink wine within a few days of opening.
