Muja Irish Whiskey is a 42% ABV blended Irish whiskey distilled and matured in Ireland. It is made from a combination of single grain and single malt whiskeys, and takes its name and design concept from the village of Muja near Trieste, Italy.
According to the producer's technical data, Muja is triple-distilled, matured in bourbon and sherry casks and bottled without chill filtration; it carries no age statement. What stands out about the brand is its packaging: a diamond-shaped, sculptural bottle with concrete detailing, symbolising the meeting of the traditional Irish whiskey cask with northern Italy's modern design sensibility.
It is a warm amber colour with golden highlights. The nose shows toasted oats, fresh yellow apple, warm cinnamon and raisins. The palate is round and full-bodied, with toasted oats, cinnamon and dried fruit standing out. The finish is long, rich and creamy, offering a delicate yet layered close.
Its aromas open up best when drunk neat or with a few drops of water; it can also be served on ice. Its apple, cinnamon and dried fruit notes pair well with fruit desserts, mature cheeses and roasted nuts.
