Jameson Irish Whiskey

Jameson Irish Whiskey is a 40% ABV blended Irish whiskey produced by Irish Distillers, part of Pernod Ricard. It is made from a combination of pot still and grain whiskeys, triple-distilled, and is the classic expression of the world's best-selling Irish whiskey brand.

How is it made?

According to the producer, Jameson is a blend of pot still whiskey and fine grain whiskey. The whiskeys are triple-distilled in copper stills, which the brand describes as the source of Jameson's well-known smoothness. The blend is matured in oak casks for at least four years; bourbon and sherry casks lend light sherry tones and toasted wood notes.

What does Jameson taste like?

It is a rich, deep amber colour. The nose shows a soft pot still character with toasted wood and sherry undertones. The palate is smooth and sweet, with distinct woody and nutty tones. The finish is exceptionally smooth. Its light-to-medium body makes it an easy entry point for those new to whiskey.

How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?

It can be enjoyed neat, on ice or with a drop of water; it is widely used as a long drink with ginger ale or cola, and in cocktails such as the whiskey sour. Its smooth, nutty character pairs comfortably with chicken dishes, meze platters and nuts.
