Whitley Neill Blackberry Gin

Whitley Neill Blackberry Gin is a 43% ABV blackberry gin made in England under the Whitley Neill brand, part of the Halewood Artisanal Spirits group. Johnny Neill, the brand's founder and an eighth-generation distiller in his family, evokes the English countryside's hedgerows and late-summer-ripened blackberries in this gin.

What's in it?

The botanical list includes juniper, Chinese cinnamon (cassia) bark, angelica root, sweet orange and liquorice root; blackberry is added to this classic base. This lets the fruit character come forward without overshadowing the gin's juniper-forward backbone.

What does Whitley Neill Blackberry taste like?

Freshly picked blackberry and floral hedgerow notes form the first impression. On the palate, juniper reminiscent of pine resin, sweet and lively citrus and a light black pepper are felt. An earthy touch and cassia's warming spice remain on the finish.

How should it be served?

The producer recommends the classic Bramble cocktail made with lemon juice, sugar syrup and blackberry liqueur, garnished with fresh blackberries and a lemon slice. A gin and tonic made with plenty of ice is also a practical serve that brings out the fruit notes.
