Tekirdağ Rakısı Öküzgözü Rezerve

Tekirdağ Rakısı Altın Seri Rezerv Öküzgözü-Boğazkere is a 45% ABV fresh-grape raki produced by Mey|Diageo at its distillery in Alaşehir, Manisa, and rested in oak barrels. Its suma is obtained mainly from Öküzgözü grapes, with some Boğazkere. This range, which brings two of Anatolia's long-established red wine grapes into raki, offers an aroma profile different from classic white-grape rakis.

What does it taste like?

According to tasting notes from gastronomy writer Mehmet Yalçın, it turns a light yellowish white when water is added. Spiced aromas from the black grapes are pronounced on both nose and palate; a hint of damson plum, considered characteristic of Öküzgözü, is also felt. Aniseed is kept just right, giving a spiced, full, calm and balanced structure in the mouth.

How is it served?

It is drunk diluted with cold water in a raki glass. Those who want to see the grape character more clearly can try a small amount chilled and neat first; adding water afterwards and watching how the aromas change is an enjoyable way to get to know this raki.

What food does it pair with?

The same tasting note recommends trying this raki with heavily spiced mezes, charcuterie such as sucuk, pastirma and smoked meats, and kebabs. Spicy purées such as spicy ezme and muhammara, along with grilled red meat and kebab varieties, suit the raki's spiced grape character.
