Tekirdağ Rakısı Gold

Tekirdağ Rakısı Gold is a 45% ABV fresh-grape raki produced by Mey|Diageo and matured in oak barrels. Suma obtained from selected fresh grapes is distilled with quality aniseed seeds in copper stills, then rested in oak barrels. Known for its light golden colour from the barrel, this range is the matured expression of the brand's classic bottle, first launched in 2005.

What does Tekirdağ Rakısı Gold taste like?

Alongside pronounced aniseed, light floral touches and a fine oak trace from the barrel are felt on the nose. On the palate, the natural sweetness of the grape distillate is balanced by spiced aniseed and woody notes; the taste is smooth. The finish is long and velvety, leaving a warm aniseed taste.

How is it served?

Traditionally it is drunk diluted with cold water in a narrow-waisted raki glass; it turns milky white when water is added. Pouring the raki first, then the water, and, for those who want ice, leaving it until last, is the usual order at the raki table. Those who want to get to know the barrel character more clearly can also try a portion chilled and neat.

What food does it pair with?

It sits well alongside a classic meze platter: white cheese, olive-oil vegetables, and yoghurt-based and spicy purées are its natural companions. Grilled fish and seafood, and hearty main courses such as lamb chops, also suit the rounded character given by barrel maturation.
