Gordon's London Dry Gin

Gordon's London Dry Gin is a classic 37.5% ABV London Dry gin from Diageo, produced today at the Cameronbridge plant in Scotland. The recipe's foundation rests on the formula Scotsman Alexander Gordon created in London in 1769; according to Diageo, Gordon's is the world's best-selling London Dry gin.

How is Gordon's made?

The gin is distilled three times. Although the full botanical recipe is kept secret, it is known to include juniper, coriander seed, orange and lemon peel, angelica root, orris root, liquorice root, ginger and nutmeg. Production began in London's Southwark district and, over the years, moved through Clerkenwell and Essex before relocating to Scotland. Its green bottle is a sight recognised in almost every bar in the world.

What does Gordon's taste like?

Its nose is fresh and open with juniper and citrus. On the palate a dry, refreshing structure is felt; juniper dominates, supported by citrus. The finish is short, light and centred on juniper and citrus. This simple, balanced profile makes it a reliable base for mixed drinks.

How should it be served?

Its best-known serve is a gin and tonic made with plenty of ice, tonic and a slice of fresh lime. It is also frequently used in classic cocktails such as Gimlet, Tom Collins and Martini.

Which dishes does it pair with?

Its dry, citrus-forward structure suits grilled fish, seafood such as calamari, olive-oil meze and fresh salads.
