Sevilen Nar Şarabı is a fruit wine made from pomegranate by Sevilen, an İzmir-based wine producer founded in 1942. Pomegranate's distinctive taste, shifting between sour and sweet, and its red colour, are this wine's standout features.
Sevilen Şarap Sanayi was founded in 1942 by İsa Güner, who trained in viticulture and winemaking in Bulgaria, and is today run by the third generation of the Güner family. The company produces from Aegean vineyards around İzmir and high-altitude vineyards on the Anatolian plateau. Alongside its grape wines, Sevilen also sells fruit wines made from blackberry, black mulberry, blueberry, pomegranate and sour cherry.
Fruit wine is the general term for wines made by fermenting the juice of fruits other than grapes. Pomegranate is deeply rooted in Anatolian cuisine, carrying both sour and sweet tones together; this balance and the fruit's vivid red colour also come through in pomegranate wine. We recommend checking the bottle label for technical details such as alcohol content and sweetness level.
It can be served chilled. It suits fruity desserts, fresh cheeses and a light meze platter, or small glasses served after a meal.
