Kutman Klasik Kırmızı

Kutman Klasik Kırmızı is a Turkish red wine from the Classic series of the Kutman family, who have made wine in the town of Mürefte in Thrace since 1896. The Classic series brings together Kutman's accessible wines designed for everyday tables.

Who is Kutman?

The Kutman family's winemaking story begins in 1896, when Ali Paşazade Ahmet Efendi bought a winery in the town of Mürefte in Thrace. After the population exchange, the family expanded production by taking over neighbouring wineries. Today there is also a Kutman Wine Museum in Mürefte, displaying the family's earliest winemaking equipment and historical documents. Alongside its Prestige, Reserve and Classic series, Kutman's range also includes a fruit series made from sour cherry, melon, blackberry, black mulberry, strawberry and pomegranate.

What grapes does Kutman use in its wines?

Kutman states that, alongside international varieties, it also uses native grapes grown across different parts of Anatolia in its blends. Thrace's Şenso and Karasakız, Denizli's Çalkarası, Ankara's Kalecik Karası, and Öküzgözü and Boğazkere from the Elazığ and Diyarbakır regions all feature in these blends for the reds. How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?

As an everyday red, it can be served slightly below room temperature. It sits comfortably at the table with grilled meats, meatballs, pasta and a cheese-based meze platter.
