Kutman Nar Şarabı

Kutman Nar Şarabı is a fruit wine made from pomegranate, part of the fruit series of the Kutman family, who have made wine in the town of Mürefte in Thrace since 1896. Kutman's pomegranate wine won a silver medal at the 2017 Japan Wine Challenge.

Who is Kutman?

The Kutman family's winemaking story begins in 1896, when Ali Paşazade Ahmet Efendi bought a winery in the town of Mürefte in Thrace. After the population exchange, the family expanded production by taking over neighbouring wineries. Today there is also a Kutman Wine Museum in Mürefte, displaying the family's earliest winemaking equipment and historical documents. Alongside its Prestige, Reserve and Classic series, Kutman's range also includes a fruit series made from sour cherry, melon, blackberry, black mulberry, strawberry and pomegranate.

What is fruit wine?

Fruit wine is the general term for wines made by fermenting the juice of fruits other than grapes. Pomegranate, deeply rooted in Anatolian cuisine and culture, has a distinctive taste that shifts between sour and sweet; the fruit's red colour and this distinctive taste stand out in the pomegranate wine as well. We recommend checking the bottle label for technical details such as alcohol content and sweetness level.

How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?

It is suitable to serve chilled. It is a good option for fruity desserts, fresh cheeses and small glasses served after a meal.
