Pasqua Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is a 12.5% ABV red wine from the series in which Pasqua brings together Italy's classic wines, originating from Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC. It is made entirely from Montepulciano grapes; the vineyards lie between Chieti and Casalbordino, at 300–500 metres above sea level.
What does Pasqua Montepulciano d'Abruzzo taste like?
It is a full-bodied red. Ripe fruit such as blackberry and sour cherry combine with spiced notes on the nose. The palate shows pronounced yet gentle tannins and moderate alcohol. The altitude of the hills and the moderating effect of the Adriatic Sea give the wine both a firm structure and easy drinkability. After fermentation with skin maceration, the wine rests in steel tanks and is aged for a period in bottle. Harvest generally takes place in mid-September.
How should it be served?
The producer recommends serving at around 18°C. Given its full body, a large red wine glass may be preferred; opening the bottle shortly before serving helps the aromas open up.
What food does it pair with?
It pairs very well with red meat dishes, matured cheeses and game. Grilled steak, lamb chops and platters of hard cheese support this wine's structure.
