Martini Rosso

Martini Rosso is a classic Italian sweet red vermouth at 15% ABV, first prepared by Luigi Rossi in 1863. It is made by blending selected botanicals and wines to a secret recipe; today it is produced by Martini & Rossi, part of the Bacardi group. It is one of the best-known products under the Martini brand.

What does Martini Rosso taste like?

It has a deep ruby colour. The producer describes Rosso as a rich, balanced vermouth with a bold, complex flavour layered with herbal notes. Its aromatic, herbaceous character remains distinct alongside its sweet body, both neat and in cocktails.

How is it served?

It can be drunk neat over ice with a slice of orange or lengthened with soda. As a sweet red vermouth, it is one of the core ingredients of classic cocktails such as the Negroni, Americano and Manhattan.

Which foods does it pair with?

The producer notes that Rosso's aromatic, herbal notes are balanced by rich, salty snacks. A bowl of olives or salted almonds makes a quick aperitif; for something more substantial, a charcuterie and cheese board of salami, cured ham and Pecorino is recommended.
