Martini Extra Dry is a dry Italian white vermouth with 15% ABV, introduced by Martini & Rossi after years of experimentation in the early 20th century. It is produced by Bacardi-owned Martini & Rossi, drawing on the brand's long-standing tradition in Pessione. With its light, dry and layered character, it is one of the best-known vermouths in classic cocktails.
What does Martini Extra Dry taste like?
It is pale gold in the glass. According to the producer, its delicate nose opens with touches of raspberry and lemon distillates, with iris root and a light wood note in the background. On the palate it is light, dry and complex, with lively citrus-scented notes pronounced. The finish is bright, clean and refreshing.
How is it served?
It can be drunk neat over ice with a twist of lemon peel, or lengthened with tonic. It is also a frequent choice as the dry vermouth component of the classic dry Martini cocktail, made with gin or vodka.
What food does it pair with?
The producer states that Extra Dry's lively character pairs well with sharp, tangy flavours, balancing the richness of dishes such as oily fish. Marinated sardines and anchovies are particularly recommended pairings; olive-oil seafood mezes also suit it.
