Absolut Vanilia

Absolut Vanilia is a 38% ABV vanilla-flavoured vodka produced and bottled in the village of Åhus, Sweden. Pernod Ricard-owned Absolut first introduced this vodka in the US market in 2003; the flavour comes from Madagascan vanilla. Its base is Absolut vodka, made from Swedish winter wheat and water from local wells. The alcohol content was lowered from 40% to 38% alongside a redesign of the bottle.

What does Absolut Vanilia taste like?

The producer describes this vodka with a warm, creamy bourbon-vanilla character, along with toffee, caramel and light bitter-chocolate notes. Its aroma recalls vanilla ice cream; light bread and bitter-chocolate touches are sensed alongside cracked black pepper. On the palate, within a dry structure, vanilla, white and bitter chocolate, delicate caramel and a pronounced peppery warmth are felt. Vanilla and black pepper remain on the finish.

How should it be served?

A highball made with cola is the simplest serve. The producer also recommends using Absolut Vanilia in place of plain vodka in a classic espresso martini, and in the Passionstar Martini made with passion fruit purée and pineapple.

What does Absolut Vanilia pair well with?

Vanilla and caramel notes form a natural match with desserts. Chocolate cakes, coffee-based desserts such as tiramisu, and fruit tarts pair well alongside it, or as an espresso martini after a meal.
