Whitley Neill Alcohol Free Rhubarb & Ginger is a 0.0% ABV alcohol-free gin alternative made from the brand's best-selling gin, Rhubarb & Ginger. Launched in 2022, the drink is produced by Halewood Artisanal Spirits in London. The base gin is passed through a spinning cone vacuum column still and separated into water, aroma and alcohol streams; the water and aroma are then recombined to produce the alcohol-free version. This low-temperature method helps preserve the top notes.
What does Whitley Neill 0% Rhubarb & Ginger taste like?
Its inspiration is the English country garden. Rhubarb gives the drink a tart, crisp edge, while real ginger gently warms the palate. This contrast between sweet-and-sour and warm spice gives the drink a distinct character despite being alcohol-free. The product won a gold medal at the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
How is it served?
The brand's classic suggestion is to pour tonic over 50 ml of Rhubarb & Ginger 0% in a large balloon glass filled with ice, garnished with a slice of lemon and a fresh mint leaf. It can also be lengthened with ginger ale; it can be used in place of gin in alcohol-free cocktails.
What food does it pair with?
Ginger's fresh bite pairs well with grilled fish and seafood such as prawns. The tart rhubarb note also offers a balanced match with green salads dressed in citrus and light mezze.
