The Macallan Harmony Collection Amber Meadow is a no-age-statement, limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky from Speyside, bottled at 44.2% ABV, from the sustainability-themed Harmony Collection produced by the Macallan distillery, part of the Edrington group. It is the third release in the series, created in collaboration with sisters Stella and Mary McCartney.
What makes the Harmony Collection different?
The Harmony Collection consists of annual limited editions built around reusing natural and waste materials in their packaging. Amber Meadow's box and bottle labels are made from discarded meadow clippings, and the theme is Scotland's fertile land and meadows. Macallan's whisky-making team created this release drawing inspiration from warm meadows and ripe barley fields, using a combination of sherry-seasoned oak and bourbon casks.
What does Amber Meadow taste like?
The nose leads with rich orange and lemon, honeysuckle, vanilla, coconut and grainy notes reminiscent of ripe barley fields. On the palate, rich oak, lemon and melon meet classic Scottish scones, almond and green tea. The finish is rich, sweet, long and complex.
How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?
It is recommended neat or with a few drops of water. Its citrussy, floral, almond character strikes a pleasant balance with fruit-based desserts, fresh cheeses and roasted nuts.
