The Macallan 18 Yıl Double Cask

The Macallan 18 Year Old Double Cask is an 18-year-old single malt Scotch whisky from Speyside, bottled at 43% ABV and produced at the Macallan distillery, part of the Edrington group. Released in a new edition each year, this bottling sits at the pinnacle of Macallan's Double Cask range.

How is it matured?

Every cask that goes into this whisky spends its entire maturation of close to twenty years in sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks. According to the producer, American oak brings vanilla and fresh fruit sweetness, while European oak adds soft spice and dried-fruit depth. The whisky's colour is entirely natural.

What does Macallan 18 Year Old Double Cask taste like?

The nose leads with dried fruit, ginger and toffee, joined by rich orange with hints of clove and nutmeg. On the palate, raisin and sultana meet caramel, vanilla and ginger, with woody spice and vibrant citrus peel providing balance. The finish opens with warm oak spice and ginger, then turns to sweet orange.

How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?

It is recommended sipped slowly, neat or with a few drops of water. Its dried-fruit, toffee and spiced character pairs well with dark chocolate desserts, mature hard cheeses and roasted nuts.
