Aberlour 16 Year Old Double Cask Matured is a 16-year-matured, 40% ABV single malt Scotch whisky produced at the Aberlour Distillery in Speyside, Scotland. Aberlour belongs to Chivas Brothers, part of Pernod Ricard.
How is it matured?
The 16-year-old expression matures in a combination of sherry casks and first-fill bourbon casks. According to the producer, the strongest influence on the whisky comes from oloroso sherry casks made of Spanish oak, which lend a floral, raisined and spicy-nutty character. The long maturation period adds rich, mature depth to the distillery's full-bodied whisky.
What does Aberlour 16 taste like?
It is a rich golden amber colour. The nose shows rich, floral and sweet raisin aromas combined with spicy nuttiness. The palate is full and sweet; floral and spicy flavours are felt alongside soft plum fruit and a gentle touch of oak. The finish is long, warm and fruity, carrying a little spice.
How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?
It suits neat drinking or with a few drops of water, particularly after a meal. Its dried-fruit, sherried character pairs well with mature cheeses, chocolate desserts and lamb dishes.

- Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
- Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
- Keep opened bottles closed; drink wine within a few days of opening.
