Aberlour 12 Year Old Double Cask is a 12-year-matured, 40% ABV single malt Scotch whisky produced at the Aberlour Distillery in Speyside, Scotland. The distillery belongs to Chivas Brothers, part of Pernod Ricard.
What does Double Cask mean?
The "double cask" in the name describes maturation in two different cask types: traditional oak casks and sherry butts. According to the producer, the lively, citrusy character of Aberlour's new-make spirit is softened by this double-cask maturation into a balanced profile. The sherry cask's contribution gives the whisky a fruity richness reminiscent of Christmas cake.
What does Aberlour 12 taste like?
The producer describes it as rich and citrusy, with notes of red apple and cinnamon. It is golden amber in colour, with a slight reddish tinge. The nose shows golden honey, fruity pear and vanilla toffee. The palate is smooth; sharp orange, red apple, liquorice and almond stand out. The finish is soft and sweet, with a light touch of spice.
How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?
It can be enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water, and on ice if preferred. Its fruity, honeyed character pairs well with mature cheeses, fruit desserts and roasted nuts.

- Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
- Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
- Keep opened bottles closed; drink wine within a few days of opening.
