Aberfeldy 12 Yıl

Aberfeldy 12 Year Old is a 12-year-matured, 40% ABV single malt Scotch whisky produced at the Aberfeldy Distillery in the Highlands of Scotland. The distillery was founded by John Dewar & Sons in 1896 and began production in 1898; it now belongs to the Bacardi group.

How is it made?

The Aberfeldy Distillery sits on the upper reaches of the River Tay, at the eastern edge of the town of Aberfeldy. The 12-year-old expression matures in a combination of sherry, bourbon, refill and re-charred casks. The distillery notes that over 12 years, roughly a third of the whisky evaporates as the "angels' share".

What does Aberfeldy 12 taste like?

The brand's signature is heather honey and white fruit. The nose shows spiced, honeyed orchard fruit; fresh melon, green apple, pear, toasted bread and nutmeg. The palate has a syrupy body, with plenty of vanilla and fudge, honeyed fruit and light spice. The finish leaves honeyed fruit with a very faint whisper of smoke.

How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?

It can be enjoyed neat, on ice or with a few drops of water; it is also used in drinks such as a highball or a hot toddy. Its honeyed, fruity character pairs well with fruit desserts like apple pie, mature cheeses and chicken dishes.
