The Macallan 12 Year Old Double Cask is a 12-year-old single malt Scotch whisky from Speyside, bottled at 40% ABV and produced at the Macallan distillery, part of the Edrington group. It interprets Macallan's rich, elegant style through the balance of two different types of sherry-seasoned oak.
What does Double Cask mean?
The whisky matures for 12 years in a combination of sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks. American oak brings creamy vanilla and fresh fruit sweetness, while European oak adds dried fruit, spice and definition to the structure.
What does Macallan 12 Year Old Double Cask taste like?
The nose leads with creamy buttery confectionery, caramelised apple, candied orange, vanilla custard and freshly cut oak. On the palate, woody spices such as ginger and nutmeg meet citrus, caramel and raisin, with a hint of resinous texture. On the finish, the oak lingers as a warm, sweet, drying trace.
How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?
It is recommended neat or with a few drops of water; a balanced whisky that can be enjoyed after a good meal. Its caramel and dried-fruit character pairs well with mature cheeses, dark chocolate desserts and roasted nuts.

- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
- Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
- Keep opened bottles closed; drink wine within a few days of opening.
