Suvla Syrah is a dry Turkish red wine made entirely from Syrah grapes by Suvla. The grapes come from two separate regions: Bozokbağ on the Gallipoli Peninsula and vineyards in the Güney district of Denizli. Suvla's winemaking team has worked from its early days with French oenologists based in Bordeaux and the Loire; Syrah is also interpreted in the portfolio's Reserve and Grand Reserve series.
What does Suvla Syrah taste like?
It is a cherry-coloured wine with purple highlights. Ripe fruit such as blackberry, strawberry and plum is felt on the nose, followed by notes of rosemary and mint in the background. The palate is full-bodied and balanced, with velvety tannins. It also appears on Suvla's list of vegan wines.
How should it be served?
The producer recommends always letting the wine breathe before serving. Resting it in a decanter for a while helps the fruit and herbal aromas open up. Serving at around 16–18°C brings out its body and tannins in a balanced way.
What food does it pair with?
Its full-bodied, spiced character pairs well with grilled red meats and lamb dishes. Barbecue tables and rosemary-seasoned meat dishes complement the wine's herbal notes.
