Suvla Kilitbahir Kırmızı is a dry Turkish red wine made by Suvla, known for its vineyards in the Eceabat district of Çanakkale, from Merlot, Syrah and native Öküzgözü grapes. It takes its name from the historic Kilitbahir fortress on the shore of the Dardanelles. Suvla's portfolio includes more than 70 labels; the Kilitbahir series is offered as three wines — red, white and rosé.
What does Suvla Kilitbahir Kırmızı taste like?
It has a pomegranate-red colour. Red fruit and spice notes stand out on the nose. The palate is lively and clean; although acidity and tannin are pronounced in its medium body, it is easy to drink. Its fruity, supple and balanced character appeals to those seeking a red that is not too heavy.
How should it be served?
Its supple, fruity structure also suits serving lightly chilled, below the classic red-serving temperature. Tasting notes suggest drinking the bottle young, within 1–2 years, when its fruit character is at its liveliest.
What food does it pair with?
Recommended pairings for this wine include medium-rare meats and pastries with minced meat or meat filling. It also pairs well with dishes such as grilled meatballs, lamb skış and meat-topped pide.
