Suvla Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot is a dry Turkish red wine produced by Suvla, based on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Çanakkale, from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes. The grapes come from vineyards on the historic Gallipoli Peninsula and in Thrace. Suvla, which has made wine since 2009, vinifies grapes from Bozokbağ, its organic-certified family vineyard on the Gallipoli Peninsula, and from neighbouring vineyards in the Northern Aegean and Thrace.
It has a ruby-red colour with purple reflections. Violet and aromatic-herb notes stand out on the nose; some tastings also note touches reminiscent of cherry and chocolate. The palate shows cherry and forest fruit; it is a balanced red with a medium-to-full body, pronounced yet supple tannins and a long finish.
The producer recommends always letting the wine breathe before serving. Resting it in a decanter or glass for a few minutes helps the fruit and floral aromas open up. It is suitable to serve slightly below room temperature, at 16–18°C.
Its body and tannin structure make it a good match for red meats. Lamb and veal dishes, grilled meats and mature cheeses suit this wine well.
