Malfy Rosa

Malfy Gin Rosa is a 41% ABV pink grapefruit Italian gin distilled by Torino Distillati in Moncalieri, near Turin, Italy. It is a member of the Malfy range within the Pernod Ricard portfolio. At the heart of the recipe are pink grapefruit grown on the Sicilian coast, rhubarb and juniper.

How is it made?

The gin is produced at the distillery founded by the Vergnano family in 1906, under the supervision of Carlo Vergnano and Beppe Ronco, using Alpine spring water. Sicilian grapefruit peel is distilled together with Italian juniper, rhubarb and the other botanicals. The pink colour that gives the gin its name also stands out in cocktails.

What does Malfy Rosa taste like?

It is a medium-dry, fruity gin. Grapefruit's fresh tartness and rhubarb's soft acidity combine with juniper's classic gin aroma. Although citrus notes are pronounced, with about 9 grams of sugar per litre the sweetness stays low, keeping the drink from feeling heavy. According to the producer, Alpine spring water adds softness to the drink.

How should it be served, and what does it pair with?

A gin and tonic garnished with a slice of pink grapefruit is the best-known serve; it is also used in spritz-style cocktails and summer drinks. Its grapefruit character pairs well with fish and seafood, sushi and citrus salads.
