Malfy Con Limone is a 41% ABV lemon-flavoured Italian gin distilled by Torino Distillati in Moncalieri, near Turin, Italy. The brand is today part of the Pernod Ricard portfolio. At the heart of the recipe are sun-ripened sfusato lemons from the Amalfi Coast; some sources also mention Sicilian lemons.

What's in it?

Alongside the lemons, Italian juniper and coriander are used, together with five more botanicals including anise. The distillery, founded in 1906, belongs to the Vergnano family; the gin is produced under the supervision of Carlo Vergnano and Beppe Ronco, using Alpine spring water.

What does Malfy Con Limone taste like?

It is a colourless, sharp, dry gin. According to the producer's tasting notes, fresh lemon combines on the nose with a full grain-alcohol base. Lemon's lively bite is felt on the palate; on the long finish, citrus closes with juniper in the background. With only about 2 grams of sugar per litre, the lemon aroma feels fresh and lively rather than sweet, which suits it to a dry gin and tonic.

How should it be served, and what does it pair with?

A gin and tonic made with plenty of ice and a slice of lemon is the classic serve; it is also used in light summer drinks or as an aperitif before dinner. Its lemony character pairs well with fish and seafood, olive-oil salads and Mediterranean-style meze.
