Glenmorangie Signet is a no-age-statement, premium 46% ABV single malt Scotch whisky produced by the Glenmorangie Distillery in the Highlands. Part of the blend uses a special spirit made with intensely roasted "chocolate malt".
What makes Signet special?
The idea came to Dr Bill Lumsden while drinking his favourite Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee. Roasted like coffee beans, the chocolate malt is distilled just once a year, giving an intense spirit reminiscent of espresso. This strength is balanced with bourbon casks for creaminess, sherry casks for sweetness, and charred new oak casks for spice; some of the distillery's oldest whiskies are also added to the blend.
What does Glenmorangie Signet taste like?
The nose is soft and sweet: dried orange peel, cocoa, golden syrup and dried fruit. The palate shows sweet dark chocolate, roasted spice and coffee bitterness balanced by a measured cask char. The finish is long, closing with fresh citrus and slowly sweetening dark chocolate.
How should it be served, and what does it pair with?
It is best enjoyed neat, taking time in a wide-bowled glass. It makes a rich after-dinner companion alongside dark chocolate desserts, coffee-based desserts like tiramisu, and mature cheeses.

- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
- Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
- Keep opened bottles closed; drink wine within a few days of opening.
