Fowler's Strong Asia Style Blended Whisky

Fowler's Strong Asia Style is an international blended whisky from the Russian drinks producer Ladoga, made under the Fowler's brand by bringing together Russian and Chinese distillates. The foundation of the blend is a 5-year-old Russian grain distillate matured in barrels made from three different oak types, to which malt distillate from China is added.

The Fowler's brand and this blend

Fowler's is a Russian whisky brand that takes its name from the Scottish Fowler clan and uses an owl as its emblem. Strong Asia Style is, in the brand's words, an edition representing the meeting of the Russian Owl and the Chinese Dragon. Caucasian oak in the blend gives the whisky a sharp character, while the Chinese malt distillate brings elegant malt notes and a lightly spiced Asian touch. Founded in St Petersburg in 1995, Ladoga today exports its products to more than 40 countries.

What does Fowler's Strong Asia Style taste like?

On the nose, fruit tones, toasted Borodinsky (rye) bread, noble wood and a light trace of smoke are felt. On the palate it is strong yet soft, warm and malty; fine fruit tones are accompanied by spiced and woody elements. The finish is long and balanced.

How is it served, and what food does it pair with?

The producer recommends serving it at 16–18 °C; it can be drunk neat, with ice or in cocktails. It pairs well with hot meat and fish dishes, particularly the spicy, chilli-forward dishes of Asian cuisine, and also with cold mezze.
