Ballantine's 7 Year Old Bourbon Finish is a 40% ABV blended Scotch whisky from Chivas Brothers (Pernod Ricard), in which whiskies matured for at least seven years in oak casks are then finished in American bourbon casks. Launched in 2020, this expression was created as a tribute to founder George Ballantine, who sold seven-year-old whisky in the 1870s.
What does the bourbon-cask finish add?
The blend, prepared by master blender Sandy Hyslop, is made up of malt and grain whiskies. The old bourbon casks used at the end of maturation add extra creaminess, caramel sweetness and depth to the whisky. The result is a soft, sweet character that appeals to both Scotch lovers and drinkers accustomed to bourbon.
What does Ballantine's 7 Bourbon Finish taste like?
On the nose, sugared red apple, honey and vanilla are joined by light floral notes. The palate shows soft red apple, ripe pear and creamy caramel. The finish is long and sweet.
How should it be served, and what does it pair with?
It can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in classic cocktails such as the Old Fashioned. Its caramel and apple notes pair well with barbecued food and grilled red meat; it is also a good match for apple- or caramel-based desserts after a meal.

- Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
- Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
