The Famous Grouse Sherry Cask Finish is a 40% ABV blended Scotch whisky, obtained by finishing The Famous Grouse's classic blend in Spanish oak casks seasoned with sherry. The brand was created in Perth in 1896 by Matthew Gloag and now belongs to William Grant & Sons.
What sets it apart?
Described by the brand as a "Blender's Edition", this bottle adds a Spanish touch to Scotland's well-known blend. Time spent in sherry casks adds layers of spiced fruit and cocoa to the classic blend's softness; its colour is a deep reddish gold.
What does it taste like?
On the nose, fresh orange and stewed pear, cherry blossom, moist sultana and cocoa bean are felt, joined by sweet cinnamon and ginger. On the palate, oak-derived vanilla, dark chocolate, maple syrup, roasted almond and hazelnut appear within a smooth texture. The finish is rich and soft; dried fruits reminiscent of a fruit cake carry through to a long, sweet, spiced close.
How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?
It can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in long drinks made with lemonade or sparkling wine. It pairs well with dark-chocolate desserts, mature cheeses and roasted nuts.

- Palate
- Smooth and rich; oaky vanilla, dark chocolate, maple syrup, toasted almonds and hazelnut.
- Finish
- Rich and smooth; fruit-cake dried fruit, long, sweet and spicy.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
- Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
- Keep opened bottles closed; drink wine within a few days of opening.
