Chivas Regal 12 Year Old is a 40% ABV blended Scotch whisky from Chivas Brothers, part of Pernod Ricard, made from malt and grain whiskies matured for at least 12 years. The Strathisla single malt sits at the heart of the blend, joined by Strathclyde grain whisky.
What does Chivas Regal 12 Year Old taste like?
The producer describes its essence as crisp orchard fruits, wild heather and sweet honey notes. Wild herbs, heather, honey and orchard fruit are felt on the nose. The palate is round and creamy; honey, vanilla, hazelnut and buttery caramel stand out. The finish is rich and lingering. The producer describes it as a generous blend made for sharing, saying it appeals to a wide audience from whisky newcomers to experts.
How should it be served?
It can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or with a few drops of water. Thanks to its versatility, the producer particularly recommends highball-style long drinks for larger gatherings; the classic whisky highball made with soda, or a pineapple highball, are examples.
What food does it pair with?
Its honey and hazelnut notes pair well with grilled red meat, lamb and mature cheeses. After a meal, it also makes an enjoyable neat pour alongside a nut platter.
